This course introduces students to a comprehensive range of skills relevant to the world of graphic design. These skills form the foundation required to develop an in-depth understanding of the process of graphic design, as well as the methodologies and skills required to become a practicing designer. A series of design-based lectures and studio projects exploring drawing, illustration, concept development and typographical studies ensures that students have a strong grasp of these core graphic design skills. Through mixed media and digital work, students develop and create innovative graphic design solutions in response to a series of design briefs.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Graphic Design, which is equivalent to a Level 6 qualification on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
BTEC is the largest accrediting body in the UK and BTEC qualifications are recognised globally.
On successful completion, students have an impressive portfolio which showcases their varied graphic design skill set, including concept development, typography work, poster design, logo design and branding.
On successful completion, students may progress into 2nd Year of the Higher National Diploma in Graphic Design programme at Dublin Institute of Design, or 2nd Year of the BA Degree in Graphic Design programme at Dublin Institute of Design.
I love the way the curriculum is woven together with units building on and drawing from previous units. I am impressed with the whole curriculum and the learning process it stimulates.

For me the high point was to realise what I could do. At the beginning I did not think that I could go so far… but the teachers were really great and the critiques was so helpful that I was able to see progress in my work. I'm really happy about the course and the attention offered by the teachers and in admission by Brian. He was so patient with all my questions. I already recommended for friends, because I could see my progress through the course.
