Irish Graduate Design Awards

Dublin Institute of Design was delighted to see five of its graduates being shortlisted for the IDI Graduate Awards who took place on 6th December last in the IADT. From 488 entries representing 23 colleges across Ireland, 97 graduates were shortlisted across 22 categories of design. As always, the quality of the submissions was high, which makes it all the more impressive that five of our students were shortlisted across five categories.

Irish Graduate Design Awards Winner Tatiana Macari

Tatiana Macari took away the top prize for her APP in the Product Design Social category, which looked at increasing rates of obesity, and tackled food waste and plastic waste. Aideen O’Neill was commended in the Visual Communications category for the use of Typography in her book ‘the irish woman’s place’. Our congratulations to them both, and to our other shortlisted graduates: Anne Maloney (Illustration); Lauren Day (UX design); and Melissa Sirois (Printed book). Each project was put on display at the awards nights and each shortlisted graduate received a certificate in recognition of their achievements.

Well done also to all the staff who contributed to the success of our shortlisted students. Participation in competitions like the IDI Graduate Awards is an important opportunity to showcase graduates’ work as they venture out into the workplace.
