Fashion Buying Lecturer

The Fashion Department at the Dublin Institute of Design is currently seeking a lecturer to support the delivery of our hugely successful Fashion Buying course. We have a requirement for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our existing Fashion team of industry specialists.
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Fashion or a similar subject and proven industrial experience of working as a Fashion Buyer, you will have an excellent understanding of the subject area, a thorough knowledge of contemporary Buying processes, product development, sourcing, supply chain management and fashion business, coupled with a creative flair. Experience in teaching & assessment in a higher education environment is desirable, but not essential.
Strong IT skills including Micrsoft excel and the ability to develop materials for and deliver online teaching is essential. Key accountabilities include a commitment to working within a team and building on the successes of the Fashion subject area is essential.

Interior Design Lecturer

The Institute seeks to recruit an Interior Design lecturer teaching our part-time students onsite. The ideal candidate will have a rounded experience in commercial interior/spatial design practice, and be able to bring this to the delivery of teaching and learning within creative education context.
You will lead students on interiors-focused projects (retail, office and hospitality) that take them through all stages of the design process, from briefing, research, concept and development through to detail design and presentation. Technical drawing, visualisation and presentation elements of the course will be led in separate sessions by your co-lecturer. Brought together in the final scheme presentations and reporting.
Each project provides opportunity to address particular aspects of practice such as materiality and specification, designing for accessibility, environmental considerations. In addition, elements of professional development – such being able to plan and manage collaborative projects, business models and personal CV and folio development.

BA Interior Design Lecturer

The ideal candidate with have a thorough understanding of the principles of technical drafting as they relate to interior projects.

Experience of working drawing package production, drawing typologies and requirements – general arrangements, technical design etc.

Fluency in computer-aided design and drafting software – students have been introduced to and work across 2-D and 3-D programmes, including ArchiCAD, SketchUp and V-Ray.

Experience in the use of BIM, specifically Autodesk Revit.

Experience in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and the creation of presentation layouts.

Ability to structure learning of the above and to work with student cohorts in small studio groups and one-to-one.

Frontend lecturer required to teach Web Development to part time students. Teaching experience an advantage but not essential. Teaching will be online and in class.
